Yellowstone National Park Xanterra Parks & Resorts
Guest Service Agent May-September 2013
Upon graduation this May, I will be moving to Wyoming to work as a Guest Service Agent in Yellowstone National Park as part of their seasonal staff. Some of my responsibilities will include registering guest rooms and cabins to travelers, assisting with reservations at locations within the park, and selling park activities. I am very much looking forward to my time at Yellowstone, and I expect I'll learn a great deal about myself, the hospitality industry, and others.
Central Europe Field Study Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy
International Experience May - June 2012
I participated in a three-week field study to examine the tourism development of six countries in central Europe and the aspects of heritage, cultural, natural, recreational, and culinary tourism that vary across the countries. During the field study I served twice as a field study guide during sights and stops in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Olomouc , Czech Republic. The entire trip was an incredible experience that helped me feel more connected to my field of study and to the travel industry.
Great Destinations Travel Agency Internship
Oct 2012 - Apr 2013
During my senior year of college I have spent my afternoons interning at a local travel agency. My tasks included answering phones, helping manage online travel bookings, faxing documents, making photocopies and maintaining filing system, creating and producing fliers and mailers to customers, among other tasks as assigned by the Internship supervisors. I was able to get hands-on knowledge, and had the chance to meet and come in contact with many wonderful people. It was very bittersweet leaving Great Destinations-- such a hard working business.
David Letterman Lecture Series Meeting My Hero
DAVE + MADDOW Dec 2011
I was fortunate enough to go to a wonderful college that just so happened to be David Letterman's alma mater. Three out of the four years I attended Ball State, David Letterman visited campus for a "conversation hour" with guests he saw fit to talk to our campus about ongoings in the world. The second year he came to campus, he asked MSNBC host, Rachel Maddow, to visit. It was an enriching experience, and an evening I will never forget. I was even lucky enough to meet her after she filmed her show live from campus.
